Queensland Beneteau Cup / 100nm / 1 Nov - 5 Nov 2018
SOUTHPORT TO MORETON BAY TO SOUTHPORT / 5 DAYS / REGATTA / sold out
Compete in an exciting 2 day State regatta on Moreton Bay in the annual Queensland French and Beneteau Cups. Competing for the 5th year in a row and a force to be reckoned with after taking out line and/or handicap honours in 2 of the last 3 years, this exciting 2-day regatta is one of our favourites. Its actioned pack from start to finish with 2 x 8 leg races across the 2 days on Moreton Bay.
You can fly into either Brisbane or Gold Coast Airports on Thursday 1st November in time to join us for a crew dinner ashore. On the morning of Friday 1st November we will depart Southport and head to the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron (RQ) in Manly on Moreton Bay and host of the Queensland Beneteau and French Cups. The trip north through "The Swamp" is a navigational challenge with both spectacular scenery and lots of narrow channels and shallow areas.
We'll arrive at RQ during the afternoon and berth at the RQ marina. Friday night will be a quiet evening as we do our final pre-race checks and we will stay onboard. The balance of the crew will arrive on Saturday morning in time for breakfast and the race briefing at RQ. Then we head out on Moreton Bay for Day 1 of the regatta, followed by interim results, presentation of the French Cup and refreshments with the other crews back at RQ around 5:30pm before heading to dinner in Manly.
Sunday we do it all over again, kicking off with a crew breakfast and debrief in the Manly Village before heading out on Moreton Bay for day 2. Sunday at 5pm is the Queensland Beneteau Cup presentation, followed by dinner ashore, another night onboard, before a 6am departure to head back to Southport on Monday 5th November and arrive by 1pm. You can depart Monday evening to head home or stay onboard and leave Tuesday.
